K for Kishore has recreated the magic of the legend Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar is irreplaceable and continues to inspire generations of singers, performers and music lovers. The concerts in memory of the legendary singer– Machh Gaya Shor, Har Taraf Kishore, (entry with passes only) held in Kolkata and Indore on two consecutive weekends received overwhelming response with over 2000 Kishoreda fans attending the concert. With eminent judges like popular music director & singer Bappi Lahiri who knew Kishoreda as a friend and musician, singer Sudesh Bhonsale, who completed all Kishoreda’s incomplete film songs after his death and his son Amit Kumar and hosts Babul Supriyo, a die-hard Kishore Kumar fan & Rageshwari Sachdev, this show has become a rage among music lovers across the country in a short span of its launch.

‘K for Kishore’ is not from the Balaji stable but from Meditech. Scheduled for the same time slot as that of ‘Jhalak..’, the show is yet another talent show for singers. “‘K for Kishore’ is another singing reality show. There are going to be auditions in cities and a few will be short-listed. All the contenders in the show will be singing Kishoreda songs,” . Playback singer and a big Kishore Kumar fan, Babul Supriyo is the host where as Bappi Lahiri and Sudesh Bhosle have been roped in as judges. The show will go on air from 21 December.

Besides this, ‘Chaal Baaz No.1′ from Endemol is also rolling out during the same time. “All 33 contestants in the show have to play pranks and the best prankster will be chosen as the winner. Sajid Khan and Cyrus will be judging the show where as Punjabi kudi Mona Singh will be the host,”.

It now appears that Sony may also soon be renamed ‘Reality Entertainment Television’!

A new singing talent hunt show is in the pipeline. Titled ‘K for Kishore’, the show aims at seeking the new-age Kishore Kumar.

Sony Television, says, “The show is about keeping the magic of Kishore Kumar alive. The show would be telecast across 20 weeks in which several singers who are Kishore Kumar fans and sing like him will be tested.

We are auditioning singers across the country. The one who gets closest to the legend will be the winner.”  Music director Bappi Lahiri and singer Sudesh Bhonsle will be the judges. The show will be hosted by playback singer Babul Supriyo.

Bappi says, “I chose to be a part of this show because of my long association with Kishore. I am the only music director after R D Burman and S D Burman to be an associate composer with Kishore.

He is a great singer and a great performer. I have learnt the art of performing from him. In fact, Kishore’s last live performance was with me at the Filmfare awards where we performed live with 100 musicians. I can claim to know Kishore more than anyone else after his son Amit.”

Sony has already started its promos and online teasers for the show. ‘K for Kishore’ will be an addition to the other reality shows on singing like  ‘Jjhoom India’ (Sahara One), ‘Mission Ustaad’ (9X) Bathroom Singer (Sahara One), ‘Say Shaava Shaava’, ‘Dhoom Macha De’ (NDTV Imagine).
